Inspiring Future Entrepreneurs at BSB
The Entrepreneurship Hub at the British School of Bucharest is a space where ideas grow into meaningful projects. It’s a supportive environment where students are encouraged to think creatively, work collaboratively, and develop practical solutions to real-world problems.
Our aim is to equip students with the skills and mindset needed to navigate today’s world and contribute meaningfully to society. Here, students don’t just learn about entrepreneurship—they experience it. Through guided projects, competitions, and workshops, they explore what it takes to turn ideas into action while developing valuable life skills.
The Entrepreneurship Hub isn’t just for future entrepreneurs—it’s for everyone. Whether your passion lies in science, music, the arts, or any other field, the skills you develop here will support your academic journey and future career. Problem-solving, leadership, and creativity are universal skills that will help you succeed in any area of life.

What Happens in the Hub
Skill Development Through Practical Experience
At the Entrepreneurship Hub, learning goes beyond theory. Students engage in every stage of bringing a business idea to life—from initial brainstorming to product development, marketing, and sales. This hands-on approach helps students understand the challenges and rewards of running a business while developing a wide range of transferable skills.
By applying entrepreneurial and business concepts to real-world scenarios, students gain experience that cannot be taught through textbooks alone. The Hub offers a safe environment where mistakes are part of the learning process, encouraging creativity, resilience, and innovation.
Students gain direct experience in entrepreneurship by creating and launching real products and services. Key areas of learning include:
- Practical Skills Development: Hands-on experience in running a real business.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Building critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Taking on leadership roles and collaborating effectively in teams.
- Financial Literacy: Applying budgeting, forecasting, and profit analysis to real projects.
- Marketing and Innovation: Conducting market research, creating campaigns, and engaging customers—all within the safe environment of the school campus.
- Entrepreneurial and Business Concepts: Learning essential principles not covered in the IGCSE or A-Level curriculum, with a strong emphasis on practical application.
Individualised Learning and Small Group Work
Students work in small groups, receiving customised content tailored to their age and experience level. This ensures that younger students are introduced to foundational concepts, while older students can tackle more advanced entrepreneurial strategies. The Hub encourages creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking, providing a space where ideas are nurtured and transformed into actionable projects.
Mentorship and Guidance
Students receive continuous support throughout their projects. Professionals from various industries are invited to mentor students, offering valuable insights and guidance. We also warmly welcome parents from the BSB community who wish to contribute their expertise and mentor students on their entrepreneurial journeys. Together, we are building a thriving entrepreneurial community within BSB.

Competitions
Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Challenge
Each year, students compete in the prestigious Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Challenge, a global competition where participants submit a 5-minute pitch for innovative business ideas, similar to Shark Tank. This challenge emphasises creative thinking and market disruption, pushing students to develop groundbreaking solutions.
From next academic year, we aim to expand participation in other international competitions such as the Conrad Challenge, providing even more opportunities for global engagement.
In-House Entrepreneurship Competition
In addition to international competitions, we organise our own In-House Entrepreneurship Competition. Students design, develop, market, and sell their products or services on campus, with all proceeds donated to local charities chosen by the student teams. This initiative encourages social responsibility and gives students the experience of managing a real business.

How the Hub Works
Onsite Weeks
Onsite weeks are held during the first week of every month. During these weeks, students attend in-person sessions in the Giraffe Room. Sessions run throughout the day during break times and in the afternoon from 15:00–16:00 and 16:00–17:00, offering flexibility for participation. This structure encourages students to take responsibility for managing their own time and progress.
Offsite Weeks
The remaining three weeks of each month are designated as offsite weeks. During these weeks, students work independently on their projects, applying what they’ve learned. Weekly check-ins take place through one-on-one meetings via Google Classroom Meets, as well as weekly online group meetings. This structure simulates a real-world working environment, fostering professional communication, teamwork, responsibility, and self-management.
Session Booking
All onsite sessions must be booked in advance via the session booking form. Students are also required to indicate whether they need the school bus service when booking.
