Cooking / SYTYCC

At the British School of Bucharest, our after-school cooking and baking classes provide students with the opportunity to develop essential culinary skills in a fun and engaging environment. Here, we foster a fun, educational and sustainable approach to cooking, inspiring students to develop life skills while enjoying the art of food creation.

Skills Developed in Cooking and Baking Classes

  • Kitchen Safety: Learn how to use kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Techniques: Master essential skills such as cutting, chopping and food preparation.
  • Culinary Creativity: Explore a variety of cooking and baking methods to create delicious dishes.
  • Sustainability: Gain knowledge of reducing food waste, using local ingredients and responsible recycling.

Opportunities to Showcase Culinary Talents

Each year, students have the chance to showcase their skills in the exciting ‘So You Think You Can Cook?’ competition. In this thrilling event, participants create dishes for a panel of judges, putting their creativity and culinary expertise to the test. The competition encourages students to challenge themselves, while also cultivating a love for cooking and baking.

The kitchen is where you can be yourself and create something that nourishes the body and the soul. Teaching children how to cook gives them the confidence to make healthy choices for life.
