We are proud to have a vibrant and dynamic Performing Arts department at the British School of Bucharest, offering students numerous opportunities to develop their musical and dramatic talents.
In Music, students can perform solo or as part of various ensembles in a range of settings. We offer peripatetic lessons across a variety of instruments, including clarinet, cello, drums and piano. With at least two concerts a year showcasing soloists and small groups, as well as opportunities to perform at school events such as assemblies and awards ceremonies, there are plenty of chances for students to shine.
Our after-school clubs cater to a wide array of musical genres, including several rock bands, an orchestra and a choir. These groups perform in numerous concerts throughout the year.
Beyond the school, our students have participated in international competitions, with trips to Qatar and Bahrain over the past two years. We also stage a school musical every year and this year’s performance of School of Rock will be held at an external venue in Bucharest after an extensive rehearsal period. Previous productions have included We Will Rock You and Sister Act.
In Drama, students can join after-school clubs, which offer them the chance to showcase their work at termly concerts. This year, a group of five students will perform at a high-profile fundraiser. Additionally, we are thrilled to debut our first school play this summer, an exciting milestone for our Performing Arts programme.
