MUN

At the British School of Bucharest, we are proud to offer a dynamic Model United Nations (MUN) programme for students in Years 7 to 13. MUN is a simulation of the United Nations, where students represent different countries and engage in debates on global issues, working together to propose solutions. We believe MUN is an incredible opportunity for students to strengthen their understanding of global relations while developing critical life skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Skills Developed in MUN

  • Research: Build foundational skills in researching global issues and international relations.
  • Public Speaking: Develop persuasive speaking and presentation skills.
  • Diplomacy & Negotiation: Hone the ability to debate respectfully, negotiate solutions and collaborate across cultures.
  • Resolution Writing: Learn to draft detailed and impactful resolutions that propose actionable solutions.
  • Leadership: Gain leadership experience through conference chairing and team collaboration.

Opportunities to Participate

Our MUN programme caters to all skill levels. We offer a beginners’ class that introduces the language, protocols and practices of MUN, while our advanced class focuses on more complex aspects such as resolution writing and conference chairing. Both groups have the opportunity to engage in mini-conferences as well as attend local and international conferences, where they can network and build connections with students from other schools.

As MUN is a prestigious platform for leadership and diplomacy, students who participate refine valuable skills that are highly regarded by universities and are applicable to many future careers.

The future of humanity depends on our ability to cooperate, listen, and understand one another. MUN teaches us how to work together and make a real impact in our world.
