Sport – BSB Bears

At the British School of Bucharest, our competitive sports programme is at the heart of our commitment to excellence, fostering a passion for achievement and teamwork among our students. Here, our sports programme not only fosters a healthy competitive spirit but also builds the life skills and character that our students carry into every arena of their lives.

From Year 3 onwards, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, football and table tennis. From Year 7, we broaden the competitive offerings with sports such as badminton and volleyball, while primary students also engage in gymnastics to build foundational strength and coordination. Weekly training sessions, including strength and conditioning, are designed to refine athletic performance and prepare students to compete at their best.

A School That Thrives on Competition

At BSB, competition is a driving force that unites our community and inspires students to excel. We regularly participate in friendly matches, league fixtures and tournaments against other international schools in Bucharest. Beyond local events, we offer thrilling opportunities to represent the Bears in international tournaments across Europe, where students can showcase their talents on a larger stage and experience the excitement of competing at an elite level.

Why Competition Matters at BSB

  • Promotes excellence: Encourages students to strive for their personal best in all areas.
  • Develops resilience: Teaches the value of perseverance and determination in the face of challenges.
  • Builds camaraderie: Instils a sense of unity and pride in representing the school as part of a team.
  • Encourages goal-setting: Helps students set and achieve individual and team objectives.
  • Creates unforgettable memories: Competing locally and internationally fosters experiences that will last a lifetime.

Competition reveals character, drives innovation, and brings out the best in people.
