Personalised Learning Specialist
The British School of Bucharest is looking for a full-time highly capable, experienced, and proactive Personalised Learning Specialist in our Secondary Learning Support Department to provide 1:1 support a bright neurodiverse student transitioning into Year 7 (KS3 level) within an international school environment in Bucharest.
The start date for this role is early 19 August 2026.
The role involves supporting the student within the mainstream classroom and on a one-to-one basis from 8:00 – 16:00, Monday through Friday.
This role requires significantly more than general classroom assistance. We are looking for someone able to provide structured behavioural and independence support, as well as delivering an academic programme while promoting long-term development and inclusion.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Previous experience within KS2 and/or KS3 educational environments
- Strong understanding of executive functioning support, Emotional regulation strategies, Structured teaching approaches & Inclusive classroom participation
- High level of English language proficiency
- Outstanding record of attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
- No obstacles to working with children (ie. Criminal History Report).
Academic requirements:
The role requires the ability to:
- Adapt and simplify academic content in real time
- Plan and deliver lessons from a chosen curriculum
- Break down instructions into manageable steps
- Use visual and structured learning strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, teach and assess lessons appropriately that are accessible to the student in your care.
- Teach 1-1 lessons and assist the same child within classroom led activities
- Promote independence and reduce over-reliance on adult prompting
- Support organisation, task initiation, and classroom participation
- Encourage positive peer interaction and social integration
- Assist with emotional regulation using proactive strategies
- Collaborate closely with Teachers, SEN staW & External specialists when required

Preferred background
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Psychology / Special Education background
- ABA-informed experience
- Previous shadow teaching experience
- International school experience
