October 2023
Greetings, BSB Community!
We have exciting updates to share since the Start of School. This half of the Autumn Term has been amazing. Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our students and our wonderful community.

Start of the School Year
The academic year 2023-2024 kicked off with a burst of excitement and a symphony of beautiful emotions within the BSB Community. Students, parents, teachers, and school staff all gathered for another bright start.
Our School’s opening event was nothing less than enchanting, with laughter and sheer joy filling the air. BSB’s beloved mascots were right there with us and for those who wished to capture these treasured moments, a lovingly arranged photo corner awaited.
These wonderful moments have become a part of our School memories. Here’s to many more days filled with happiness and amazement!

Back-to-School Backpacks
At BSB, we go beyond academic excellence; we instil strong moral values in our students. The ‘Back to School Backpack Donations’ initiative, in collaboration with our NGO partners, exemplifies our commitment. Our empathetic students generously provided fully equipped backpacks with essential school supplies to non-profit organisations. This initiative allowed them to actively participate in Making a Difference within our community. Well done, indeed!

Welcome BBQ
The BSB Welcome BBQ brought our community together for a celebration of unity and diversity. New students and parents had the opportunity to meet the warm and welcoming BSB Community while enjoying the allure of Romanian traditional aesthetics. The Takanaka Catering Team delighted our taste buds with mouthwatering dishes, complemented by the sizzle of delicious BBQ. Children were immersed in games and activities, making it a pure celebration of culture.
We were thrilled to have you with us!

Jeans for Genes
On Friday, 22nd September, students and staff wore their jeans to support Jeans for Genes in reaching its fundraising target. This act of solidarity from our BSB community contributed to funding care and research for children with genetic disorders, ensuring a brighter future for them.
Thank you to all who wore denim attire and joined in this noble cause.

Café of Cultures
This year’s Café of Cultures at BSB was simply enchanting! Proud BSB parents showcased their countries with stalls offering delectable traditional dishes, activities, and cultural insights. Students had the opportunity to explore a world of flavours, languages, and cultures while mingling with parents, and discovering the richness of our multicultural environment.
We’re already looking forward to the next one…

Casa Ioana Sleep Out
For one night, our Sixth Form students, alongside their teachers, braved the outdoors and slept outside for a noble cause. They raised awareness and made donations to support Casa Ioana’s life-changing work with families experiencing homelessness. Our BSB community’s #concernforothers is genuinely remarkable!

Ben Miller Visit
BSB had the honour of hosting a special guest, the multi-talented Ben Miller, a renowned author, actor, and comedian. During his visit to our campus, Mr. Miller engaged with our enthusiastic students, providing them with a unique opportunity to delve into the world of creativity, both on paper and on screen. His visit was more than just about books and acting; it was about life lessons and the pursuit of one’s passions. Ben Miller’s wisdom left an indelible mark on our students, reminding them that with dedication and determination, greatness is attainable in their chosen paths.

Harvest Collection
The Harvest Collection is a special charity project, reaffirming our dedication to Make a Difference. Our generous community contributed once again with non-perishable food items that will provide nourishing meals for those in need as winter approaches. Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved!

War Cemetery Visit
Our Year 6 pupils paid their respects to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in battle during their visit to the War Cemetery. With reverence in their hearts, they laid flowers, with each blossom symbolising gratitude for the heroes of the past.
The young learners also paid close attention to their surroundings, sketching them to vividly capture the essence of this special moment and to remember and honour those who came before us. This visit serves as a tangible reminder of the history lessons that we all must learn and pass on to future generations.

Breis - Hip Hop Literacy
Recently, our School had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Breis, a renowned UK hip-hop artist, as part of our Black History Month celebration. His dynamic workshop offered our students a one-of-a-kind experience, and they eagerly embraced it, discovering a new world of learning that was both engaging and collaborative. Our students had the chance to become creators and performers, even taking the stage to showcase their talents.
It was an event to remember!

Harry Potter Book Night
Our students, from Year 4 to Year 8, were invited to the ‘Harry Potter Book Night,’ a magical occasion for fans to celebrate the extraordinary series. Just as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a place of learning, so is BSB. Children enjoyed the Sorting Ceremony, and once everyone was assigned to their magical house, the activities continued, challenging their skills and knowledge. In the end, the House that scored the most points was Gryffindor.
What an unforgettable adventure!

Harvest Production
This half of the Autumn Term ended on a festive note, with Year 4 pupils showcasing their talents during the Harvest Production event. Their performance was a resounding success, and their harvest-themed poems reminded us of our abundance and good fortune.
Let’s give them a big round of applause!
Thank you for being a part of the BSB Community. We have had such an exciting journey so far, and we can’t wait to share the rest of this amazing year with you!
