June 2024
Dear BSB Community,
We are thrilled to share with you the highlights from our vibrant Summer Term. This has been an exceptional time at BSB, marked by unforgettable moments that have brought our community closer together.
Let’s celebrate these wonderful experiences and the remarkable spirit of our School!

Sports Day
We are delighted to share the excitement of BSB’s Sports Day events!
Secondary and Key Stage 2 students displayed their athletic talents in various House Competitions, ranging from Athletics to Volleyball, all supported by the lively presence of House mascots. Key Stage 1 pupils created a vibrant atmosphere of joy and teamwork, while EYFS pupils embarked on adventurous journeys amidst superhero-themed activities. It was a jubilant celebration of unity and skill that brought our community together!

BSB’s Got Talent
BSB’s Got Talent is an important event in our school calendar. Once again, students from both Primary and Secondary have demonstrated that talent and dedication are key to success. Whether showcasing their skills in dance, music, vocal performance, or comedy, each participant received well-deserved recognition from the entire school community. The finalists also had the opportunity to perform at the Summer Fair, where the winners were announced.

Second-Hand Book Sale
During the Second-Hand Book Collection students donated books of all types and ages, in any language. Then at the Book Sale event attendees acquired new reads, supporting the St. Stelian Association. Your participation Made A Difference! Thank you for your interest and contributions.

Year 2 Sleepover
The Year 2 Sleepover at BSB School Grounds on Friday, 31st May 2024, was a great success! Our young adventurers stayed overnight, enjoying an evening packed with excitement and activities. They delighted in story time at the tree house, played games, engaged in crafts, and savoured a pizza dinner before winding down with a movie. The morning began with a hearty breakfast. This character-building event not only fostered friendships but also served as a fantastic precursor to the Year 3 trip to Sinaia. Thank you to all who participated and made this event truly memorable.

Bike Day
We were thrilled to host an exhilarating event for our young learners: Bike Day on 3rd June at the BSB Campus! Our EYFS children enjoyed a splendid morning of joy and excitement, bringing their chosen wheels—be it a bike, balance bike, or scooter—to our remarkable campus. It was a memorable day designed to delight and inspire our youngest adventurers!

Second-Hand Clothes and Household Items Collection
Our recent collection was in aid of the Casa Ioana and Fundația Inocenți charities. Thanks to your generosity, we received a range of donations, including clothes for all ages and essential household items such as cutlery, crockery, saucepans, bedding, and small kitchen appliances. Your contributions have made a significant impact. Thank you for your support!

Summer Fair
The Summer Fair at our School was a resounding success, with cultural performances, student showcases, activities, and food stalls delighting attendees. The Master of Ceremonies ensured a memorable experience for all, while the Pool Climbing Competition proved to be a hit with many eager participants. Furthermore, international food stalls added to the festive atmosphere. Overall, it was a fantastic celebration of our school community, and we eagerly anticipate next year’s event!

Year 6 Production
The fantastic performance of the Year 6 – School-o-Vision Song Contest, a lively and entertaining show, was a great success. The children put in tremendous effort for their final Primary School Production, and it was a delightful performance. It showcased the talents and creativity of our pupils, bringing joy and excitement to all who attended. Inspired by popular TV talent shows, the production featured catchy songs, energetic dance routines, and hilarious comedy sketches, captivating the audience from start to finish.

EYFS Summer Production
The EYFS Summer Production was a heartwarming Singalong performance by our little stars! We celebrated the energy and talent of our young performers from Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception, held in our enchanting Ringwood Kingdom. Following the show, parents enjoyed quality time with their children in our beautiful garden, applauding once again for our shining stars on stage. The theme of the production was centred around plants and minibeasts, adding an educational and entertaining touch to the event.

Summer Concert
On 12th June, our School hosted the Summer Concert, a delightful showcase of our students’ musical talents. Attendees were treated to a diverse range of performances, featuring contributions from Drama and Music CCAs, entries from the COBIS Music Competition, as well as captivating acts from our inter-school talent show participants and classroom performances. We applauded our talented students as they unveiled their musical skills, making the concert a memorable event for all who attended.

Bucharest Middle Schools Debating Competition
On 13th June, our School hosted the Bucharest Middle Schools Debating Competition, which saw ten teams from five international schools come together for an engaging and friendly event. Students aged 12-14 participated in three rounds of debates, starting with the prepared motion, ‘This House believes that hosting the Olympic Games brings more burdens than benefits’.
The subsequent rounds were impromptu, with topics given just 30-40 minutes before the debates, without access to any research. These included discussions on whether students should design their own school curriculum and the value of space tourism. After three rounds, the scores were tallied. Our BSB teams performed exceptionally well against strong competition, making us very proud.
We look forward to seeing these talented students continue to hone their debating skills next academic year, as regular practice can only lead to further improvement. Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and impressive performances!

Primary Palette
The Primary Palette Exhibition showcased the vibrant world of young artistic expression. Attendees immersed themselves in captivating artworks created by students from EYFS and Key Stage 1. Visitors also admired imaginative pieces crafted by Key Stage 2 students. It was a joyous celebration of the boundless creativity and talent of our young artists!

Water Day in EYFS
Our EYFS Water Day unfolded as a delightful escape from the summer heat, offering children a refreshing and memorable experience. Equipped with swimwear, sun cream, goggles, water shoes, and towels, they eagerly engaged in a variety of water play activities. Paddling pools provided ample opportunities for splashing and cooling down, while exciting water games and activities kept the atmosphere lively. Creative water play stations sparked the imagination of our young participants, ensuring a day filled with laughter and excitement.

Awards Ceremony & Graduation
We recently celebrated our Graduation and Award Ceremonies at The British School of Bucharest. On 25th June, we honoured Key Stage 5, followed by Key Stage 4. The following day, 26th June, we celebrated Key Stage 3 in the morning, culminating with a memorable Year 13 Leavers’ Dinner in the evening.
Our students’ achievements were celebrated throughout the year, but especially in this last special assemblies of the academic year – the Award Ceremonies, recognising exemplary academic performance and contributions to the BSB Community.
We wish Year 13 all the best in their future endeavours and eagerly anticipate their return as visitors or at BSB Alumni events. To all BSB students, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on your achievements and look forward to seeing you in the next academic year!
