Highlights from BSB

October 2025

Dear BSB Community,

As we approach the half-term break, we are delighted to share some of the moments that have marked the start of the academic year at the British School of Bucharest. The past weeks have been filled with learning, creativity and collaboration, as students, parents and staff came together to begin a new journey. Here is a look at some of the events that brought our community to life this half term.

Start of the School Year

The new academic year began with enthusiasm and optimism across the BSB campus. Students, parents and teachers reunited after the summer break, ready to take on new challenges and create new memories. The atmosphere was full of energy and anticipation, setting a positive tone for the term ahead.

Sunset Soirée

Parents and staff gathered for the annual Sunset Soirée, an evening that celebrated connection and community. It was a relaxed occasion to enjoy good conversation, meet new families and reconnect with familiar faces. The event reflected the welcoming spirit that continues to define the BSB Community.

Café of Cultures

The Café of Cultures once again celebrated the diversity that enriches our school. Parents proudly presented traditional dishes and activities from their countries, while students explored and learned about the many cultures represented within BSB. It was a colourful and joyful reminder of the international spirit that unites our community.

War Cemetery Visit

As part of their learning in Humanities, English and Art, Year 6 pupils visited the War Cemetery to honour those who served and sacrificed. The visit encouraged reflection and empathy, helping pupils connect their classroom lessons to real stories of courage and remembrance. It was a meaningful and respectful moment of learning.

Harvest Production

Our Year 4 pupils delighted families and teachers with their Harvest Production, a celebration of gratitude and generosity. Through poetry, music and performance, they reminded us of the importance of kindness, sharing and community. The event filled the hall with warmth and pride for our young performers.

Tea Time Recital

The Tea Time Recital brought together students, parents and staff for an afternoon of beautiful music. The programme featured solos and duets, performed on both instruments and voice, blending classical and modern pieces. It was a peaceful and elegant occasion that showcased the talent, confidence and dedication of our young musicians.

University Fair

Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students had the opportunity to meet representatives from leading universities across the UK, Europe and the US during the annual University Fair. The event helped them explore study options, ask questions about admissions and plan for the next stage of their education. It was an inspiring step forward for our older students as they prepare for life beyond BSB.

A New Home for Our Linden Tree

As part of our campus development, our beautiful linden tree is being carefully relocated to a new position within the school grounds. Its roots have been assessed, the soil prepared and each stage managed with precision to ensure its safe transition. Two specialists from the UK are overseeing the process, marking the first relocation of a tree of this size in Romania. This project reflects our school’s commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment as we continue to grow.

The first half of the Autumn Term has reminded us of what makes our community so special — curiosity, creativity and care for one another. Thank you to all students, staff and parents for your energy and involvement throughout these weeks. We look forward to the next chapter of the school year and to many more meaningful moments together.
