Highlights from BSB

June 2025

Dear BSB Community,

As the academic year came to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible spirit, creativity and connection that have defined this Summer Term. From spectacular performances and joyful celebrations to meaningful milestones and acts of generosity, these past weeks have brought our campus to life in memorable and meaningful ways.

We invite you to look back with us at the moments that made this term so special – a vibrant showcase of what it means to be part of the BSB Community.

Sports Day

Sports Day was a joyful celebration of athleticism, teamwork and House spirit, with separate events for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stages 2 to 5. From superhero-themed activities for our youngest pupils to energetic House competitions for Key Stages 2 to 5 at the stadium, students across all year groups embraced the day with enthusiasm. Highlights for the older students included athletics, relays, football, volleyball, tug of war and creative team challenges, all cheered on by vibrant House mascots.
It was a memorable occasion that not only celebrated physical skill and collaboration, but also strengthened friendships, House identity and school pride.

BSB’s Got Talent

Cheering, clapping and a whole lot of talent – BSB’s Got Talent once again brought our school community together for an afternoon filled with energy, emotion and unforgettable performances. With acts ranging from music and dance to comedy and gymnastics, students from both Primary and Secondary lit up the stage with passion and confidence. The event celebrated not only creativity and courage but also the incredible support students offered one another throughout the show.

The Dream

Building on the success of School of Rock, the Drama CCA returned with a bold and imaginative production: The Dream. This modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream reimagined the classic tale of magic and mischief in a contemporary setting. Performed outdoors on the school grounds, the show highlighted our students’ creativity, talent and collaborative spirit in a truly magical performance.

Year 6 Production

Year 6 took to the stage in a lively and entertaining production that combined humour, music and history. Jill & Fred’s Most Hysterical Historical Adventure! followed two best friends on a whirlwind journey through time, meeting famous figures from the past in a fast-paced and imaginative storyline. With energetic performances and plenty of laughs, it was a fantastic way to round off their Primary years.

Bike Day

EYFS pupils enjoyed a fun-filled morning on wheels during Bike Day. Bringing their bikes, balance bikes or scooters to campus, the children took part in a variety of exciting activities that promoted confidence, coordination and joy. It was a delightful event that celebrated movement, play and outdoor exploration.

Year 2 Pirate Picnic

The Year 2 Pirate Picnic was a joyful celebration of creativity and performance. Our young buccaneers entertained the audience with their swashbuckling pirate poems, bringing rhyme and character to life in the shade of the front field trees. With picnic mats spread out and treats shared, it was a light-hearted afternoon filled with laughter, imagination and proud moments for pupils, staff and families alike.

Years 2 & 5 Work Showcases

Both Year 2 and Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to present their learning in dedicated work showcases this term. From creative projects to written work and cross-curricular highlights, the events reflected the enthusiasm, progress and pride pupils have taken in their learning. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their achievements with the wider school community.

EYFS Summer Production

The EYFS Summer Production was a heartwarming showcase performed by our little stars from Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception. With a magical theme of exploration and adventure, the audience was taken on a joyful journey through jungles, across oceans and up into the skies. It was a delightful celebration of imagination, confidence and creativity, capturing the spirit and energy of our youngest performers.

Summer Concert

The Summer Concert was a wonderful celebration of musical talent across the school. Featuring performances from Drama and Music CCAs, the concert showcased a wide range of musical styles and abilities. It was an uplifting event that left the audience inspired and proud.

Bucharest Middle Schools Debating Competition

To round off this year’s debating calendar, BSB hosted its annual Middle Schools Debating Competition, welcoming eight teams from five international schools across Bucharest. Aimed at students in Years 7 to 9, the event showcased impressive critical thinking, teamwork and confidence. Debaters tackled a prepared motion – “The war on food waste is a waste of time” – followed by two impromptu rounds on professional athletes’ salaries and later school start times. The standard was higher than ever and we look forward to more engaging debates next year.

Amazing Animals

Our ‘Amazing Animals’ non-uniform day was a joyful and creative celebration to end the charity calendar for this academic year. Pupils across the school arrived dressed as their favourite animals, filling the campus with colour, imagination and cheerful energy. Donations went to Light Into Europe, supporting BSB’s goal of sponsoring a guide dog for a year.

Primary Palette

The Primary Palette Exhibition brought the school to life with colour and creativity. From EYFS to Key Stage 2, pupils showcased their artistic talents through a variety of imaginative and expressive works. It was a beautiful celebration of visual storytelling and student voice. Some of these artworks were also selected for the Silent Auction at the Summer Fair – congratulations to the lucky ones who took these special pieces home!

Summer Fair

This year’s Summer Fair, themed ‘Spark of Imagination’, was a wonderful celebration of the BSB Community, bringing together students, families and staff for a day filled with creativity, fun and connection.

The stage came alive with performances from our Primary Choir, Ballet and Modern Dance groups, talented bands and BSB’s Got Talent finalists. Meanwhile, the fairgrounds offered something for everyone – from Mini Golf, Face Painting and Zip Line Adventure to the LEGO® Play Areas, VR Experience and Pool Climbing. Later in the day, DJ Vali Bărbulescu brought extra energy to the event with a dynamic live set.

Creative highlights like the Innovation Hub and the Primary Palette Art Auction added extra colour to the day. We were also pleased to welcome the charities supported by our school community throughout the year.

It was a joyful day to remember!

Water Day in EYFS

EYFS Water Day offered our youngest learners a fun and refreshing escape from the summer heat. With paddling pools, water games and creative play stations, the event was filled with laughter, excitement and joyful discovery. It was a perfect way to celebrate the season.

Track Day

Project Zephyr students had the opportunity to test and showcase the cars they had been building for many months in the Innovation Hub. The sense of fulfilment as they began testing them on the BSB campus — and seeing them perform as intended — was incredible. It was an exciting moment for both the students and their mentors.

Awards Ceremonies & Graduation

Our end-of-year Awards Ceremonies and Graduation events honoured the hard work, progress and spirit of our students. These meaningful celebrations reflected both individual achievements and the strength of our school community. We send our warmest congratulations to all students, especially our Year 13 graduates and wish them every success in their next chapter.
