Rising Through Challenge: William’s Journey in Junior Tennis

William, our student in Secondary, continues to demonstrate exceptional commitment, discipline and resilience through his achievements in competitive tennis at both national and international level.

Stepping Up at National Level

In 2025, at just 12 years old, William competed in the National Winter Championships (U14), playing above his age category. Over the course of the competition, he recorded eight victories across singles and doubles, securing the national doubles title and reaching the singles final, a notable accomplishment against older opponents.

Consistent Performance on the European Junior Circuit

Throughout the year, William competed in a number of international junior tournaments on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour, gaining valuable experience and consistently performing at a high level against strong European opposition. During the 2025 season, he appeared in 13 tournament finals across singles and doubles, winning eight titles.

National and International Recognition

Among his most significant international performances was his participation in the Carlos Moyà 12 & Under Festival, a prestigious Tennis Europe Tournament of Champions that brings together many of the continent’s leading young players. At this event, William claimed the doubles title and also reached the singles final, demonstrating composure and competitiveness in a high-pressure environment.

At national level, William achieved the distinction of becoming a five-time national champion in singles and doubles in the 12-year-old category across winter and summer championships. His consistent development throughout the season was further reflected in his UTR rating of 9.61, the highest recorded in Romania within his age category.

Representing Romania at U14 Level

As a result of his sustained performances and progression, William was selected for the Romanian U14 national team, earning the opportunity to represent his country in European team competition.

William’s journey highlights the importance of perseverance, focus and balance in pursuing excellence beyond the classroom. As a leading international school, the British School of Bucharest is proud to support students in developing their talents both academically and beyond the curriculum. We are proud to recognise William’s achievements and wish him every success as he continues his journey in junior tennis!
