March 2026
What has the second half of this term looked like for your child? Moments on stage, ideas brought to life, new challenges taken on and experiences that reached far beyond the classroom. Along the way, our students have worked together, explored new interests and grown in confidence in ways that are often best seen through these shared moments.
As the Spring Term draws to a close, we look back at some of the experiences that have shaped this part of the term.
🌍 Language and Mother Tongue Week
How many languages can friendship speak? During Mother Language Week, our children gave us a beautiful answer. Across the campus, students came together to record a shared message — “we are friends” — each in their own home language, creating a moment that felt both simple and deeply meaningful. In the library, the Mother Language Stories sessions invited students and teachers to read aloud in their native languages, followed by translations that opened those words to everyone in the room. You could hear the pride in every voice, the curiosity in every listener. It was a celebration of identity, but also of connection — a reminder that every child’s story matters.
❄️ The Arctic Challenge
What an adventure this year! The Arctic Challenge brought excitement at every step. At the heart of the experience was the competition itself, where students tested the cars they had built through a series of challenges on ice — from speed and control to endurance and precision. Beyond the race, the programme unfolded through hands-on experiences such as husky sledding, Arctic exploration and time spent navigating the unique conditions of the environment. Evenings added a different kind of anticipation, as groups gathered in the cold, watching for the Northern Lights.
🎭 Bugsy Malone
Ladies and gents, gather ’round. For three evenings this March, the BSB Marquee was transformed into a 1920s New York setting, where students from Year 7 to Year 10 brought Bugsy Malone to life through music, movement and sharp character work. The production combined a live band, dynamic choreography and carefully designed sets, creating an immersive experience from the moment the audience arrived.
Behind the scenes, months of rehearsals built confidence, adaptability and strong connections across the cast — all of which were visible on stage in a performance shaped by teamwork and energy.
📚 Book Week
All week long, reading stepped into the spotlight. Classrooms, library spaces and shared areas became places where stories were explored, discussed and brought to life in different ways. The visit from author Chris White gave pupils the chance to engage directly with the creative process, ask questions and see how ideas take shape. Alongside this, book sales, themed activities and student-led sessions added to the atmosphere, with our student librarians organising their own moments for peers.
🔬 KS3 Science Fair
The Marquee became a hub of ideas, where students stepped forward to present, explain and explore. Across three days, Year 7, 8 and 9 students showcased projects developed through investigation, testing and careful refinement. Visitors moved between displays, engaging in conversations that revealed not only results, but the thinking behind them. Students spoke about their process, demonstrating both understanding and confidence. It was an environment where curiosity was visible and learning felt active and shared.
🧠 Year 6 Work Showcase
Parents were welcomed into a space shaped by the pupils themselves. At the Year 6 Showcase, pupils stood alongside their work, guiding visitors through projects they had developed over time. They explained their ideas, reflected on challenges and highlighted what mattered most to them. It was a moment that brought learning into focus — not just what was done, but how it was understood.
🎓 University Mini Fair
The Crawford Library became a meeting point for meaningful conversations, welcoming both students and parents. This event brought together a group of European universities, alongside a UK Russell Group institution, reflecting options that are becoming increasingly relevant for BSB students. Representatives from the University of Bristol, Brussels School of Governance, EHL (École hôtelière de Lausanne), IE University and Modul University Vienna were present, offering insights into a range of academic pathways, including business, hospitality and international relations, as well as broader undergraduate programmes.
🐉 Year 2 Production – Dragon Days!
The Marquee filled with colour, movement and anticipation as our Year 2 pupils took to the stage. In Dragon Days!, each pupil played a role in building a lively and engaging performance, bringing together songs, storytelling and expressive movement.
🌟 Primary Production
What better way to discover mythology than by stepping into it? Rehearsals, shared ideas and steady preparation brought Mythically Mythical Myths to life. Through their roles, Primary pupils were introduced to mythology, stepping into characters inspired by well-known stories and legends. This gave them the opportunity to experience these stories first-hand, rather than simply learning about them.
🚀 Coming Up: Repton School Summer Programmes
Looking ahead to the summer, the BSB campus will once again host the Repton School Summer Programmes. Designed for students aged 13–18, these courses focus on leadership, entrepreneurship and finance, combining academic learning with practical application in small groups.
A focused, engaging experience for those ready to explore new ideas and take the next step beyond the classroom. Early registration is recommended, with a reduced fee available for applications completed by 30th April.
As we head into the holiday, we would like to thank you for your continued support and involvement in school life. We hope you enjoy a restful and well-deserved break with your families.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Summer Term.
