Teacher of Textiles
The British School of Bucharest is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Textiles to join our successful team from or at a date after January 2027. Since this is a new course being launched, there may be further flexibility on the start date.
The successful candidate would be required to teach Textiles at Key Stage 3 with the possibility of launching examined courses in due course for IGCSE and set up and deliver examined courses for students in Years 12 and 13. The ability to teach a second subject, particularly within Creative Arts or Design Technology would be advantageous but not essential, as well as the willingness to teach Textiles, Art or DT to Key Stage 2.
This is an exciting opportunity, as this new subject is being launched strategically across the school over the coming years. We have well-established and well-equipped Fine Art and DT workshops and atelier spaces already and offer these subjects from Key Stage 1 to A level. Whilst we have some textiles equipment and work space for the Fine Art A level and IGCSE courses, the successful applicant would be integral in setting up and fully equipping a dedicated teaching space for this new subject to the highest standard possible.
We would also require the successful candidate to be able and willing to teach and run Fashion Design as part of the course, as well as running courses across different phases of the school as enrichment or during after-school programmes and provide support for students wishing to study a related subject at Higher Education.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to our vast co-curricular programme alongside being a form tutor and promote Textiles across the school, as well as contributing actively to our enrichment programmes within the timetable or in our after-school CCA programme.
