Age: Children eligible to start Pre-Nursery, Nursery or Reception in September 2027 (born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2025).
Sessions: Choose from 5 weekly sessions
Places: Maximum 10 children per session
Location: British School of Bucharest Campus

Why BSB Early Years Explorers?
In the early years, children learn best when they are actively involved, curious and having fun. Every experience is carefully designed to support children’s development through purposeful play – building communication, physical skills, creativity, confidence, independence and relationships.
Rather than focusing on what children make, we focus on what they are learning as they explore. A paintbrush can strengthen the muscles needed for writing; a song can develop language and memory; a story can spark imagination; and a sensory activity can help children understand the world around them.
This is the magic of EYFS: learning is happening all the time, through the experiences children have, the things they explore and the play they enjoy.
What to Expect
- The activity sessions are led by a teacher, with a Teaching Assistant present to support the session, children and parents.
- Parents will have the opportunity to observe and participate in activities that support early learning and development.
- Children will have opportunities for sandpit and outdoor play.
- Staff will be available to support parents with ideas for purposeful play and interaction.
Please note: BSB Early Years Explorers is a parent/carer-accompanied programme. A parent/carer or other responsible adult must remain with and directly supervise the child throughout each session. Children cannot be left in the care of BSB staff during the programme.

A short, engaging, age-appropriate activity linked to the weekly focus.
- 10:45–11:45 – Stay & Play
A parent-led session offering opportunities for children to explore, play and develop social and physical skills.
Discover, Create and Explore at BSB
Creative Learning in Our Frederic Building
Our Early Years Explorers sessions begin in the Frederic Building, a newly purpose-designed environment for our youngest learners. Here, children are encouraged to explore, experiment and express themselves through hands-on, creative experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and lay the foundations for future learning.
Outdoor Adventures, Meaningful Learning
Our outdoor learning areas offer exciting opportunities for children to discover, imagine and develop new skills through play.
- Little Builders, Big Thinkers: In our sandpit and construction area, children dig, pour, build and experiment. What looks like simple play is also an introduction to early mathematics, spatial awareness, problem-solving and scientific thinking.
- Climb, Balance and Discover: Our outdoor play equipment encourages children to test their abilities, develop coordination and build physical confidence. Every new challenge offers an opportunity to practise independence, perseverance and resilience.
- Imagination Comes to Life: In our outdoor play kitchen, children become chefs, shopkeepers and storytellers. Through imaginative role play, they develop language, creativity and social skills as they communicate, collaborate and explore the world around them.
Learning in Every Season
At BSB, outdoor learning is not limited to sunny days. With appropriate clothing and preparation, children are encouraged to explore the changing seasons, experience nature first-hand and develop curiosity, independence and an appreciation of the natural world.
Because at BSB, play is never just play. Every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow and discover.
