Accreditation

The latest UK Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report rated the British School of Bucharest as “excellent”, the highest possible rating, for the second time in a row, in 2018 and again in 2022, with the provision for pastoral care also rated as ‘excellent’ in 2015.

The key findings, in particular, “the quality of pupils’ learning and achievement is excellent” and “the quality of pupils’ personal development is excellent”, are outstanding acknowledgements of the exceptional effort invested by every member of our learning community towards making the British School of Bucharest an extraordinary place for our students to learn and develop.

Our approach to teaching the National Curriculum for England and our continual internal evaluation and improvement is underpinned by regular inspections by ISI and engagement with external partners for school improvement. Pupils of all ages, abilities and needs show excellent development of knowledge, skills and understanding across all areas of learning and embrace a broad programme of co-curricular activities (CCAs). The school successfully fulfils its aim to provide a comprehensive international education with a strong intellectual foundation.

ISI Report 2022

The British School of Bucharest is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). At the latest inspection, we were honoured to be rated ”excellent” in all areas. This outstanding result represents the highest achievement, and we are very proud that the British School of Bucharest is the only school in Romania to have achieved this consistently.

It reflects our commitment and continuous efforts to support our students throughout their academic journey, starting from the Early Years to the moment they enter their chosen university destination. Our school leavers are supported in their future lives and careers through our flourishing family of Alumni.

Certified COBIS Training School

The British School of Bucharest is proud to be one of the first certified COBIS Training Schools. This recognition of the quality, calibre and diversity of our approach to CPD and professional learning also incorporates support for initial Teacher Training, Early Career Teachers and iQTS programmes. We offer two-year teacher development programmes based on the UK standards for the early career framework and support from a dedicated and experienced mentor. As the only school from Eastern Europe to receive this certification, we are honoured to be part of this COBIS project alongside a small number of other leading COBIS international schools globally.

The British School of Bucharest attracts high-calibre teachers, including Oxford and Cambridge graduates, and those from the Russell Group. Many of our staff have pursued or are pursuing post-graduate qualifications, Master’s degrees and Doctorates. We can offer teacher training to suitably qualified candidates via the Independent Schools Teacher Induction Panel (IStip).

International Competitions

Our students need experiences beyond the classroom to grow into well-rounded, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world. Their academic achievements, culture, and moral values are enriched through global exposure to experiences that develop their independent thinking, build their learning pathways, and allow them to discover new interests and passions. Among these invaluable experiences are international competitions and awards, which provide practical skills, nourish creativity, flexibility and collaboration, and help students prepare for their future. These international competitions have included COBIS Games and Music, poetry, maths challenges, The World Scholars Cup, and Model United Nations, among others, where BSB has often had resounding successes.
