February 2025
Greetings, BSB Community!
We have exciting updates to share with you. This half of the Spring Term has been impressive! Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our students and our wonderful community!

So You Think You Can Cook?
The highly anticipated internal cooking competition returned, offering students in Years 5 to 9 the opportunity to showcase their culinary talents. In the Preliminary Round, contestants were tasked with preparing a ‘signature dish’ independently.
In the Final Round, finalists competed in multiple rounds. They created a salad and dressing starter, followed by a main course suitable for school lunches using one of the key ingredients: chicken, beef, salmon, black cod, tofu or beyond beef. Secondary students also prepared a parfait dessert.
The competition offered a fantastic platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and skill in the kitchen.

Friendship Week
Throughout Friendship Week, children explored the theme of friendship through a variety of activities. They listened to stories about friendship, sang songs together and took part in creative activities like colouring, where they could express their own ideas about what friendship means. The week was filled with opportunities for the children to reflect on the importance of friendship and experience the joy of working together in a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Crazy Hair Day
Our first charity event of 2025 was Crazy Hair Day. Everyone (not just students!) was encouraged to come to school with crazy hair and make a donation to support St Stelian’s Charity Association. The aim of the donations was to purchase new board games for children in need. St Stelian’s supports underprivileged children and the elderly at their centre in Bucharest, providing lunch, help with homework and a safe space for children after school. The centre also serves meals to the elderly, and volunteers regularly visit to support the local community. Crazy Hair Day was a fun and exciting way to bring the School Community together, showing how we can all contribute to a good cause.

BSB Bands Rock Out!
Our talented musicians took the stage with energy and enthusiasm, delivering fantastic performances of international hits. From powerful rock anthems to crowd favourites, the afternoon was filled with great music and an electrifying atmosphere. Students showcased their dedication and musical talent, captivating the audience with their passion and skill. It was an unforgettable event that brought our School Community together through the love of music.
Well done to all the performers for an amazing show!

Chinese New Year Celebration
What a fantastic celebration it was! We were thrilled to honour the Year of the Snake, a symbol of wisdom, transformation and creativity. Across the campus, from EYFS to Secondary School, students took part in a variety of exciting activities that brought this vibrant tradition to life.
From the mesmerising dragon dance and joyful festive songs to the glowing beauty of our lantern decorations, our school was filled with colour, culture and celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and embrace the spirit of the Lunar New Year.
Wishing everyone prosperity, happiness and good fortune in the Year of the Snake!

Year 4 Work Showcase
Year 4 warmly invited parents to their Work Showcase, where they presented the work they had done across subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, Arts, History, Geography and Computing. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the progress the children had made and to engage with some of the activities they had been learning about. The event allowed parents to appreciate the pupils’ hard work and creativity, while also giving them a chance to try out some of the activities themselves. The showcase offered a lively and interactive experience for all involved.

Career Fair
Students had the chance to meet professionals from a variety of fields, listen to their presentations and engage in interactive discussions. Among the guests were individuals from architecture, game development, healthcare, public affairs, diplomacy and logistics. Experts in their respective industries shared insights into their careers, answering questions and providing valuable advice. The fair offered students the opportunity to learn more about diverse career paths and the skills needed to succeed in each field, fostering inspiration and curiosity about future possibilities.

School of Rock
Each year our BSB students bring a different story to life on stage and this time they rocked it—literally! School of Rock was the musical performed this year and over two unforgettable evenings at Sala Luceafărul Theatre, our talented performers delivered an electrifying show.
The story follows Dewey Finn, a failed rock musician who poses as a substitute teacher and turns a class of straight-A students into a rebellious rock band, helping them find their voices and embrace their passion for music. From powerful vocals to energetic performances, our students embodied the spirit of this high-energy tale about music, friendship and believing in yourself. Their dedication and passion truly shone, making this production a standout moment for our School Community.
A huge thank you to our amazing cast, crew and everyone who supported this incredible journey. We can’t wait to see what next year’s production will bring!

Year 5 Mărțișor Production
Our Year 5 pupils celebrated the coming of spring with a delightful Mărțișor performance. They shared the beautiful tradition of Mărțișor with the School Community, bringing warmth and joy to the occasion.
The performance featured vibrant songs, dances and stories, highlighting the significance of Mărțișor in Romanian culture. It was a wonderful display of creativity and teamwork, as the students brought this cultural tradition to life in a truly memorable way.

Mărțișor Fair
As we end this half term, our Charity Challenge university students, supported by our MAD (Make a Difference) students, organised a Mărțișor Fair, creating beautiful handmade gifts for Primary students to receive in exchange for a donation. All proceeds are going to Asociația Hercules’ day care centre in Buftea to help purchase new tables and chairs for children to do their homework. Fundația Inocenți also took part, offering Mărțișor made by the children they support, with all funds going towards their work with disadvantaged families. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
Enjoy the half-term holiday!
Wishing you a well-deserved break. We look forward to sharing more wonderful news from BSB with you soon!
