Head of PE & Sport
Due to the promotion internally of the current Head of PE & Sport the British School of Bucharest is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Head of Department to join our successful team from August 2025.
The Head of PE & Sport would lead an experienced and professional team in a thriving and energetic Department. Physical Education is taught across the whole school from EYFS to Year, the IGCSE Physical Education course is offered at Key Stage 4 and Level 3 in Sports Leadership at KS5. The successful candidate will lead on all curriculum and sport offerings at the school.
Sport forms an integral part of the co-curricular life of BSB and our competitive sports fixtures programme has been growing steadily over recent years to encompass matches and tournaments locally, regionally and internationally with most sports teams getting over 2 hours of training a week. BSB is a member of COBIS and other organisations and as a result, benefits from opportunities to compete against international schools globally. As such, the successful candidate must be eager to help drive and contribute to our extensive sports programme, develop the rich and varied cultural programme and promote and lead Physical Education throughout all stages of the school.
The Successful candidate will be expected to attend some weekend fixtures and tournaments alongside morning training sessions before school. Whilst we offer a variety of sports as part of the sports provision, out three competitive sports are Football, Basketball and Volleyball.
The successful candidate would also be required to teach across the ability range to all Key Stages across Primary and Secondary. Ability to teach Physical Education to IGCSE level and would be essential and to A level would be desirable.
We have a 4-badminton court dome covered area followed by smaller outdoor and covered areas, in addition to some external spaces for PE lessons.

- An appropriate teaching qualification
- Proven experience as a teacher in the UK or an international school
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
