1:1 Learning Support Teaching Assistant

The British School of Bucharest is looking for a full-time Learning Support Teaching Assistant in our – Secondary Learning Support Department to provide 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The role involves supporting the student within the mainstream classroom and on a one-to-one basis from 8:00 – 16:00, Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to provide evidence that there are no obstacles to working with children (ie. Criminal History Report).
  • Be able to work with families and external agencies in devising strategies and plans to support the educational progress of the child
  • Demonstrate an interest in working with students with Special Educational Needs, both in a classroom setting, but also on a 1:1 basis.
  • Have a high level of English language proficiency.
  • Be willing and able to work collaboratively with colleagues to devise and implement an individualised programme for the student.
  • Be sympathetic to working in a multi-cultural and international educational community.
  • Have ideally had some previous experience of working in an educational setting and with children with SEN.
  • Have an outstanding record of attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
  • Have excellent skills in behaviour management.
  • Be able to commit to the post for the full academic year and potentially, beyond.
